Introduction:


International School Social Work Conference is viewed as the largest international conference in this field, which has been organized every two to three years by the professional school social work organizations from different countries or regions.
 

The 7th International School Social Work Conference taking place in Beijing, China, will last for 4 days, throughout August 24th to August 27th, 2018. The conference is sponsored by China Association for Social Work Education School, Youth Social Work Professional Committee, and the Tsinghua University School of Social Science; jointly sponsored by Beijing Bridge Hope Charity Foundation and União Geral das Associações dos Moradores de Macau; and co-sponsored by China Youth University of Political Studies, Zhongshe Social Work Development Foundation as well as Cross-Strait Tsinghua Research Institute. The theme of the conference is: Global Endeavor, Holistic Care, Raising-up the Brighter. The development and accomplishments of school social work in different countries/regions will be exhibited and exchanged through the numerous approaches, including,but not limited to, pre-conference workshops, keynote speeches/presentations, seminars, poster exhibitions, and organization visits. The conference aims to establish a worldwide academic platform for school social workers to learn, communicate and share among each other.

School and Youth Social Work Professional Committee was founded in December 2012, It is the first professional organization under the Chinese Society of Social Work Education, which is a non-profit organization whose main purpose is to promote the education, research and practical development of school social work. Responsible for School and Youth Social Work
 

The commission has a board of directors and a secretary, and the current president is Professor Xu Liya, director of the Department of Social Work of the China Youth University of Political Science. By the end of 2017. A total of 120 members of the group and more than 300 individual members. Members of the group are located in 25 cities, 75 colleges and four social work institutions throughout the country. The individual members are composed of teachers from colleges and universities, cadres of the Communist Youth League, teachers in primary and secondary schools, full-time social workers and heads of private non-enterprises
 

Since the establishment of the Commission, the commission has organized two national seminars on the theory and practice of School and Youth Social Work. Three times teaching seminars of School and Youth Social Work. Publication and funding of 23 practical research topics. Organization of 5 training courses for adventure-based counsellors throughout the country; Organization of 5 surveys abroad and within the country; and promotion of more than 20 School and Youth Social Work Practice bases throughout the country
 

Synopsis of Tsinghua University School of Social Sciences


The major disciplines of the School of Social Sciences are political science, sociology, economics and psychology. Currently, the School has five Tier-1 Ph.D. programs, including political science, sociology, theoretical economics, science of physical culture and sports and philosophy, four Bachelor Degree programs consisting of the experimental class of social sciences (with three fields: international political science, sociology and economics) and psychology, four Postdoctoral programs, including political science, sociology, theoretical economics and philosophy, and three key programs which are international relations, sociology and science, technology and society. The courses “Analysis of International Relations”, “Principles of Marxist Political Economy”, “Introduction to Deng Xiaoping Theory and ‘Three Represents’ Theory” were named national undergraduate quality courses.

The School has 83 faculty and staff, including 41 full professors, 27 associate professors, 12 assistant professors and 3 administrative staff. Additionally, there are 71 postdoctoral fellows in the School. The current enrollment is 358 undergraduates, 281 Master’s degree students and 223 doctoral students. Overall, the School has 862 students, including 151 international students and 13 students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

The School has four departments and two institutes. They are the Department of Sociology, Department of Political Science, Department of International Relations, Department of Psychology, Institute of Economics and Institute of Science, Technology and Society. There are also about 20 interdisciplinary substantial research institutions in the School.
